a couple of interesting items to note…  when USA informs you that you’ve been selected for a random drug test, you have one hour and only one hour to report to the testing center.  Even if this means that 50 people in 4 countries have to sit there and wait for two hours for you to get back.  Apparently, your manager can defer your test when they tell him you’re going to be tested, but if he forgets that you’re managing a sim at the moment, and ok’s the test, then you still have to go.  no if’s and’s or but’s.

so yes, someone’s manager screwed up big time today.

the other item to note, speaking of USA policies…  we actually had a member of our group become a non-person last week.  It’s the first time I’ve seen it happen.  One minute you’re sitting there, doing your job, and the next, you’re gone.  someone comes along a few minutes to put your stuff into a box and take it away.  All of his work was reassigned to other group members, very nonchalantly…  and anyone who knows anything about why he disappeared is not allowed to talk about it.  so yeah.  interesting.  Although, apparently not the first time it’s happened in this group.  Apparently, before I got here, the entire group of people who sat in my cube were made into non-people.  our empty cube was apparently called “the death cube” until it was filled up again with new people.

anyway, I thought it was interesting.  I hope I never do anything to become a non-person.

Quote of the Day:  (cheesy but not made up)

mom:  doesn’t Deedee do computers?
me:  no, she does software, and this is a hardware problem.
mom:  oh, well, it’s all geek to me.

  1. Andrea,

LOL! “all geek to me” – I love it! And I hope you never become a non-person, because I really enjoy getting an occasional update about you and Deedee through my favorite Klink (who by proxy led me here…) :)
