First things first… the intrepid is dead… long live the expedition.

I am not a yuppie. but I did buy an SUV. a BIG one, at that. 2001 Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer edition. It’s sage… I thought sage was a plant or seasoning… but apparently it is a color. It’s close to a dark olive green. anyway, it’s very nice… leather interior, a crap load of options (some of which we’re still trying to figure out)…

It’s an interesting story… we went to look at a volvo… yup… volvo. Twin turbocharged, volvo s80 t6. there are only three in memphis for sale. We looked at all three. At the last one, it was sitting next to this huge greenish suv. caught our attention, so we poked our head in it. the salesman went nuts. threw us the keys and insisted we take it out for a drive… he didn’t come with us, but instead stayed back and worked up some paperwork on the truck. seems he really needed to get rid of it, and being a small family dealership he couldn’t just move it to another lot. When we got back, something amazing happened. Never happened before and might never happen again. The salesman made US an offer on the truck. He knocked three grand off the sticker price and threw in a 4 year, 48,000 mile warranty for free. Good deal.

So good, in fact, that we couldn’t turn it down. We went back the next day and bought it. I’ll save you the boring details of my fight with the bank, and just say that the truck is now mine. ….. and Deedee’s :) ……. mostly mine.

yeah, I thought my mom’s envoy was big… nope. Parked the expedition next to it and it cowered in fear… shrank back and crawled under the carport…

also, people did something I’ve never seen before… I turn on my turn signal, and they get out of the way! this is new! people just make room for me when I drive that thing.

ok… gotta run… more later
